TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) Shawnee County Parks and Recreation is looking for someone to take over the Abbott Community Center.
Parks and Rec Director John Knight says the county doesn't have the money to operate it on its own.
Commissioners approved soliciting bids from anyone interested in buying or contracting to operate the center.
Parks and Rec is among Departments dealing with a 10% budget cut for next year.
Similar talks are going on at Rice, Garfield and Crest View Community Centers.
Commissioners also approved a contract with Wabaunsee County to pay part of a 20% cost necessary to replace the SW Carlson Road Bridge over Mission Creek.
It's located on the Shawnee and Wabaunsee County line.
A Department of Transportation grant will pay much of the cost. A state statute provides for cost sharing of the rest of the replacement cost..
