TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Saint Francis Health Center held an educational session on the growing epidemic of designer drugs across the nation.
Keynote speaker Lisa Marzilli was on hand to educate prescribers and clinicians on the growing emergence of psychoactive substances, such as Spice and K-2.
In most instances, geography dictates the flavor of the week, so efforts to stay current remain a challenge both scientifically and legally.
"Any message we can get out into the community, I always say I learn probably more on the road than I teach. That is how up to the minute a lot of this information is," Marzilli.
Marzilli says four years ago there was little known about these designer drugs.
