TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- A health advisory will not be lifted tonight for areas around Deer Creek and specifically at Dornwood Park.
An official with Water Pollution Control told 13 news crews will evaluate the situation Thursday to see if the advisory will be lifted, but he did assure us the stoppage has been cleared.
This afternoon an unknown quantity of sewage leaked into Deer Creek due to a blockage in a sanitary sewage interceptor.
Officials are advising people, especially children and pets to stay away from the creek until the advisory has been lifted.
The area infected includes Deer Creek between SE 29th St. and SE 21st St. and specifically at Dornwood Park.
