TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Prosecutors have dropped charges against the driver of a car that hit a child riding his bicycle.

Charles Cashman had faced counts including driving without valid license or insurance, illegal tag and a stop sign violation.

Topeka Police say Cashman was driving a pickup August 2 that hit 12-year-old Nicholas Tunstall as the boy was biking near NW Topeka Blvd. and St. John St. Nicholas needed surgery for injuries including a broken collar bone and pelvis.

Prosecutors say they have the option of re-filing the case.
