WICHITA, Kan. — Charges have been amended against a Wichita mother and her boyfriend in connection to the abuse of a 3-year-old girl.
Jail records indicate that 24-year-old Monica Krueger and 23-year-old Evan Schuessler have now been charged with felony first degree murder in the death of 3-year-old Emma. The girl was rushed to the hospital Monday evening with several injuries, and hospital staff called police around soon after. Police say the ambulance brought the child to the hospital from the Falcon Pointe Apartments, located in the 4200 block of South Hydraulic.
Police later arrested Krueger and Schuessler on child abuse charges. Those charges were amended Wednesday night to felony first degree murder.
Police are investigating a suspected case of child abuse after a young girl was seriously injured earlier this week.
Shortly after 7 p.m. Monday night, paramedics brought a three-year-old girl to a local hospital. She was suffering from several injuries, and hospital staff called police around soon after.
Police reports show the little girl has bruising to her body and swelling on the brain. Wednesday, she's still hospitalized in what police describe as "very critical condition."
Police say the ambulance brought the child to the hospital from the Falcon Pointe Apartments, located in the 4200 block of South Hydraulic. Officers were on scene for several hours last night into the morning gathering evidence.
According to Lt. Dan East, officers have since arrested the girl's 24-year-old mother and her 23-year-old boyfriend. Records indicate that they are Monica Krueger and Evan Schuessler. Formal charges could be filed later this week.
