(WIBW) - Challengers are narrowing the gap in the U.S. Senate race in Kansas, according to a new Survey USA poll conducted for KSN-TV in Wichita.
Three-term incumbent Pat Roberts faces a challenge in the GOP primary from Milton Wolf. The poll shows Roberts with a 20-point lead, but that is down from 33-points in a similar poll a month ago.
If Roberts survives the primary, the poll found Democrat Chad Taylor, who currently serves as Shawnee Co. District Attorney, is now within five points. Roberts garners 38 percent of the vote among those surveyed to 33 percent for Taylor.
Independent candidate Greg Orman also has gained ground. He took 14 percent in the latest poll, which is double what he had a month ago.
Libertarian Randall Baston drew four percent of those polled.
Orman plans to submit the required signatures to get on the November ballot on Monday. Roberts and Wolf both plan to be at an event Saturday afternoon in Manhattan hosted by the Riley County GOP.
