TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__Cars 4 Heroes and Country Mart teamed up for this years Summer of Freedom program and on Friday military veteran Blake Woods and his family are one step closer to receiving the help they need.

Military veteran Blake Woods served this country more than seven years and has recently landed a steady job. The addition of a reliable vehicle will allow his family to cruise into a less stressful life.

Blake is the father of four children who all have serious medical conditions. He and his wife travel bi-weekly for hospital visits and sometimes the emergency room every other week as well. The vehicle they received came at an opportune time.

Blake said, "We have to go to St. Louis for my daughter so she can go down there to see the doctor. We can't do that with one vehicle and still go to work. So it literally saves us in order to be able to provide for my family and get them the medical attention they need to treat my children."

Receiving a car would make anyone jump for joy but., for Blake Woods' family and countless other military veterans in the Cars 4 Heroes program, it dramatically changes their lives.

Terry Franz, founder of the program said, "It is not a prize, it's a tool. You can imagine a family like they have of four and some with medical issues. You get into a car and then it breaks down. You can imagine the panic. All we do is take a little of the stress away and we give them a tool that will take them to the next level.
