Carr Brothers Appeal Ruling Expected Friday

TOPEKA, Kan. (KAKE)— The Kansas Supreme Court will release decisions Friday on appeals filed on behalf of two brothers being held for killing five people in Wichita.

Reginald and Jonathan Carr have been sentenced to die for the December 2000 killings of five people. Four were killed execution-style in a northeast Wichita field after police said the Carr brothers robbed and sexually abused them.

During a December 2013 appeal hearing, an attorney for Reginald Carr said his client didn't receive a fair trial because he was denied the right to testify, and was tried with his brother. Jonathan Carr's attorney said his client was hurt by Reginald's behavior in the courtroom.

The Supreme Court is expected to release its opinions at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
