TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW)-- The driver who spurred a police chase covering two counties on Tuesday is facing almost two dozen charges as a result.
Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse said that 41 year-old Joseph Swazey III, of topeka, has been charged with possession of a stimulant, possession of opiates, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, criminal damage to property and 18 other offenses.
Swazey was also served warrants for 10 counts of violation of a stalking order.
Jackson County deputies were called to a disturbance at a home at 505 Second Street in Whiting Tuesday morning.
Officials say Swazey slashed the resident's tires and fled the scene. Deputies attempted to stop his truck, but he sped south on highway 75, into Shawnee County.
A highway patrol car used a pit maneuver to force Swayze off the road at the exit ramp near highway 24, where he was taken into custody.
