TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Capital City's efforts to become more pedal-power friendly continue to take shape.
A second round of blue signs went up this week along SW 4th and SW 5th streets, between Topeka Boulevard and Willow Street. The signs mark the stretch as a designated bicycle route.
The area had "sharrows" put down on the pavement last year when construction work wrapped up, thanks to a private donation. Donations raised through the Bikeways Advisory Committee paid for the signs.
The first designated bike route signs went up in January along 8th Street. Those signs were paid for with Complete Streets money. Corresponding "sharrows" will be laid in spring using a KDOT grant.
The projects are part of the city's Bikeways Master Plan.
