Canadian Man Arrested After Hit And Run In Holton

Holton, Kan. (WIBW)-- A Canadian man who reportedly left the scene of a crash in Holton is now behind bars.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office said 55 year old Edward Berard of Mitchell, Manitoba was arrested Saturday evening for driving under the influence following a report of a semi-tractor and trailer causing damage to a utility pole and service box at the 711 convenience store in Holton.

Sheriff Tim Morse said Berard left the scene and was spotted just north of the Shawnee County line on US Highway 75 where he was arrested.

Berard was booked into Jackson County Jail for driving under the influence, his bond is pending.
