California Murder Suspects Arrested In Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -- Four suspects wanted in connection to a murder in California have been arrested in Wichita.

Monday morning, police in Windsor, California notified the Kansas Highway Patrol that they had pinged the cell phone of a suspect wanted in a murder that happened just over a week ago.

At 10 a.m., it indicated the phone was on I-70 in Kansas. A ping again at 11 a.m. showed the phone close to Highway 50 near Newton.

Troopers and other law enforcement officers began searching the general area and soon located the suspects' vehicle.

They followed the car to Wichita, and pulled it over near 21st and Hillside around 11:20 a.m.. Four people in the car were taken into custody. Their identities have not been released, but the car had a Texas license plate.

The search is in connection to a shooting that happened on June 22 at a California birthday party. KGO in San Francisco reports that a 15-year-old boy was shot in the chest and died soon after. Three other people were also shot, but survived.
