Brown Vs. Board Of Education Brings Revenue To Topeka

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- The City of Topeka receives an economic boost from the Brown vs. Board of Education National Historical Site.

A new National Park Service report shows that, in 2011, 21,000 visitors toured the Brown vs. Board Education National Historic Site.

Those visitors spent $894,000 in communities surrounding the park, enough to support 14 jobs in the Topeka area. The information is part of nationwide analysis by Michigan State University.

It shows the country's National Parks welcomed nearly 300 million park visitors in 2011.

Visitors spending in areas like lodging,food service,retail and entertainment has a 30 billion dollar impact on the U.S. economy.
