Brittny Adams Pleads Guilty To Lawrence Man's Murder

LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) -- A 20 year-old Topeka woman pleaded guilty to the murder of Gary Edens last July, according to the Douglas Co. District Atty. Office.

In addition to the intentional second degree murder plea, Brittny Adams also pleaded no contest to felony criminal threats, which were allegedly made to a corrections officer at Douglas Co. Jail.

On July 17, 2013, Lawrence police officers were called to Edens' apartment in the 600 block of Michigan Street where the found the 51 year-old shot in the back of his head.

Adams faces between 12 and 55 years behind bars for the murder and between 5 and 17 months for each of the threats. As part of the plea, she agreed that all of the sentences should run consecutively and she will not file departure motions or request probation.

Her sentencing is set for February 28.
