Bright Young Minds Honored At MLK Banquet

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__ The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship and Awards Bright young minds were honored and community residents recognized in the name of a great civil rights leader.

Banquet was held at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Center's Regency Ballroom.

A select few graduating High School Seniors were given college scholarships and outstanding members of the community were awarded.

Dr. Clayborne Carson, a history professor at Stanford University and director of the Martin Luther King Jr. Research and Education Institute, served as the guest speaker and emphasized that all people and places are more similar than different.

Music for the evening was provided by the Lex Norwood group of Lawrence Kansas.
