Boundary Changes Are Coming To Some USD 450 Elementary Students

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Almost 100 students in the Shawnee Heights School District will be moved to a new elementary school.

The school board voted six to one after several months of discussing new boundary changes.

Officials say 68 kids will move to Tecumseh North from Shawnee Heights Elementary School. Roughly 30 more will go to Tecumseh South from Berryton.

USD 450 Superintendent Marty Stessman believes there are many benefits to the plan.

"One, it should even out enrollment among the four elementary buildings. Two, the transportation should make sense. Three, it should keep neighborhoods intact. And four, it will minimize the number of students impacted," Stessman.

Doctor Stessman says the changes will keep enrollment at the elementary schools balanced for the next five years.
