TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Several law enforcement groups, including the Topeka Police bomb squad, were on the scene much of Monday night at a home in North Topeka.

The home was at 150 NW Evelyn St., near NW Logan.

Topeka Police said the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office went to the home just after noon Monday to locate a person wanted on an arrest warrant. The suspect, 33-year-old Arthor Gibbs, was taken into custody, but deputies saw several items in the home they felt were suspicious.

The Topeka Police Bomb Unit was called in around 1:15 pm. Law enforcement agencies remained on the scene after 8 pm. TPD Lt. Mike Cross told 13 News it was expected they would be there several more hours.

Officers in protective gear were seen going in and out of the home. In a news release, TPD Lt. Russ Klumpp said several suspicious items were removed for further examination. The investigation is ongoing.

TPD says neighbors were not evacuated during the response, but were asked to shelter in place, as a precaution.
