LIBERTY, MO (KCTV) - A family friend says the body of a missing runner was apparently found Friday.
Tim Fritson, who has been closely involved in the search for Chad Rogers, said Liberty police has notified the family that they believe Rogers' body was found Friday. Police apparently found the body near highway construction located near South Valley Junior High School, which is at 800 Midjay Dr.
The search has been called off.
An autopsy will be performed.
The family is asking for privacy during this difficult time.
Rogers was last seen Monday night when he left for a run. His family has organized massive searches for him and many have volunteered after seeing the pleas through social media.
A heartbroken Fritson shared the news on the Facebook page created to bring Rogers home.
"Friends, it is with a very heavy heart that I communicate that the Liberty Police Department has tentatively located the body of Chad Rogers. The cause is not known at this time. The search has been called off," he wrote. "Please give the family space over the next few days as they process through the difficulty of this time. In the coming days there will be information regarding contributing financially toward the family. We will post when we have that information. Thank you for your search efforts over the last 4 days. You've been very helpful throughout the process."
