LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) - Douglas County authorities say no foul play is suspected in the death of a person whose body was pulled from the Kansas River at Lawrence Wednesday.

Authorities identified the body Wednesday afternoon as 49-year-old Dwight Sexton of Lawrence.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Lawrence Police responded at 10 am to Burcham Park. They say a boater found the body in the water, northwest of the Kansas University Boat House.

The Sheriff’s Office called its Underwater Search and Recovery Team to assist in the investigation. It recovered the body by Wednesday afternoon.

An exact cause of death remains under investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Lawrence Police are assisting the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in the investigation. The Sheriff's Office is leading the effort, since the Kansas River falls in its jurisdiction.
