Local brewers were raising a glass to a new beer Monday.
Brewers from Free State Brewery, Blind Tiger Brewery and 23rd Street Brewery created the new "Smoke on the Wheat Beer" which made its debut at all three breweries.
The beer is an age old Polish Style Grätzer (grate-zer) wheat beer. The local brewmaster, John Dean, at Blind Tiger says creating a new beer is one of the best things about the job. He said, "My favorite thing is to create beer that no one has ever tasted, anytime I want."
The beer was released in collaboration with American Craft Beer Week which runs through Sunday May 19th.
The week promotes quality beer that brewers share with the community.
