BELOIT, Kan. (WIBW) -- Monday was a day to clean up and assess the damage in parts of northeast Kansas that were pummeled by the storms that blew through the previous night.

Heavy hail pelted Barton, Kansas, along with heavy rain and strong wing gusts.

Mitchell Co. officials say several upper windows on the courthouse were broken out and many vehicles have windows that were broken or cracked.

Officials also report flooding around the area. Many buildings are cleaning up water and mud.

Authorities also report a 14-foot sinkhole near the Beloit power plant. The are is off the road and barricaded.
