Belleville Man Charged With 14 Felonies

TOPEKA, Kan Charges have been filed against a Belleville man accused of securities fraud.

Charles Mathews, 52, was charged with 14 felony counts for violating the Kansas Uniform Securities Act.

Counts include the selling of unregistered securities and acting as an unregistered agent.

Mathews allegedly tried to sell securities in a "hope chest entertainment center", resulting in more than $25,000 in victim losses.

Authorities ask if you were approached by someone regarding a "hope chest entertainment center", contact the office of the Kansas Securities Commissioner at 296-33-07.
