TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Even in this age of e-readers, there's nothing quite like physically turning the pages of a good book!

This weekend is your chance to get a good deal on some great reads when the Friends of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library hold their annual community book sale.

More than 100,000 books, music and movies are said to be up for grabs. The events kick off Friday at the Kansas Expocentre Ag Hall with a special Friends Friday sale. Friends of the Library members can get first look at the deals from 6 to 9 pm. The general public can also attend for a $5 admission fee.

Friends of the Library memberships are $20 annually and will be sold at the door. Members get discounts at the library's gift shop year round.

Regular sale hours are 9 am to 5 pm Saturday and 10 am to 5 pm Sunday. There is no admission on those days.

Money raised from the sale will support programs and services of library. In 2012, Friends provided $135,000 to the library, about half of which went toward purchase of a new bookmobile.

Warren Taylor with the Friends of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library spoke about the sale recently on 13 News at 4.
