BCBS Exceeds Food Donation Goal

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)--Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas has exceed their donation goal to Project Topeka.

Employees donated 20.39 tons of food. Their goal was to donate at least 19.5 tons to the annual city-wide food collection campaign to help feed the community's hungry.

"Project Topeka is one of our employees' favorite causes and I congratulate them for surpassing the goal they set for this years campaign," said Andrew C. Corbin, BCBSKS president/CEO. "Supporting the communities in which our members and employees live and work is ingrained in our corporate culture and is a philosophy our employees embrace."

During the month of February, employees organized bake sales, special lunch events, bid on premium parking spaces, casual dress stickers and conducted silent auctions. They also hosted the February Frenzy Basketball Challenge. The events raised a total of $20,912 which was used to purchase 18.56 tons of food.

BCBSKS has given nearly 270 tons of food to Project Topeka during the past 10 years.
