Awi Akta District Holds 13th Annual Veterans Pow Wow

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)__ The 13th Annual Inter-Tribal Veterans Pow Wow entertained guests with some traditional Native American singing and dancing.

The Awi Akta District and Northern Cherokee Nation of the Old Louisiana Territory took to the Big Gage Park Zoo Shelter House Saturday.

They featured Gourd Dancing, Educational Seminars and a Grand Entry for attendees to enjoy.

The Honored Veteran was Frank Shopteese of Prairie Band Potawatomi.

Awi Akta honors all veterans, past and present U.S. Military, and chooses one veteran to honor each year at the Pow Wow.
