Topeka Woman Killed After Horse Hit On Highway


HOLTON, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Topeka woman was killed after the SUV in which she riding struck a horse. Fifty-eight year-old Vicki Self was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital where she was pronounced.

According to the Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office, Self was in a 2008 Chevrolet TrailBlazer as it headed south on Highway 75 when it hit the horse just north of 246th Road. The horse went up and over the Chevy and was then struck by another vehicle.

The horse died in the incident, said Sheriff Tim Morse.

Neither the driver of the TrailBlazer nor the other vehicle were hurt.
