TOPEKA, Kan (WIBW) - The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a five-month-old child at a daycare home.

The Sheriff's Office says deputies were called just after 12:30 pm Wednesday about an unresponsive infant at a non-licensed daycare home in the 7000 block of SW Wheatfield Lane, in South Topeka's Montara neighborhood.

Deputies who responded began CPR until Shawnee Heights Fire Department personnel arrived and took over. The infant was taken to Stormont-Vail Hospital, where the child was pronounced dead.

The child was identified by the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office Friday as Caleb Stewart of Scranton.

The Shawnee County Health Agency Child Care Licensing Program is investigating the incident.

A memorial fund has been set up for Caleb through the family's Pastor, Don Herren, of Crossroads Community Church in Scranton. Donations may be made at Kansas State Bank in Scranton.

A viewing for Caleb is scheduled for this Monday, March 4, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carey's Funeral Home in Burlingame.

The funeral is set for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Crossroads Community Church in Scranton.
