Authorities Arrest Burglary Suspect, Another Remains At Large

From Jackson County:

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant during the afternoon of February 4th at 1836 NW Winter Street in Topeka. The search warrant was issued in connection to a burglary of a self-storage unit near Mayetta at 134th and US 75 Hwy in Jackson County.

On Saturday February 2, 2013 at approximately 5:30 p.m. suspects were believed to have entered a storage unit and took property valued at $1,500.00. Suspects were driving a tan or gold colored 1998 Chevy Blazer pulling a black trailer.

Deputies recovered property that had been taken during the burglary.

Arrested at the scene was Austin James Rogers 20 of Topeka. Austin Rogers was booked into the Jackson County Jail for burglary and theft and bond was set at $35,000.00.

An additional suspect, Walter Eugene Rogers 49 of Topeka has not yet been located.
