Area students are putting their new found abilities to good use this holiday season.
Marines from the Toys For Tots program visited Washburn Tech to pick up 500 hand made toys.
The toys were built over the weekend by students and members of the community.
When all the saw dust settled, the craftsmen had built 200 step stools, 200 beat box drums, and 100 hobbie horses for children in need.
John Lemon a Washburn Tech Instructor said, "I think the students saw this for what it was in a spirit of giving and just a very feel good moment and everyone helped or participated had a such a great time there was laughter. Everyone just really enjoyed themselves,"
Lemon says students learned to think about ways to help the community and benefit others.
