TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Area students had the chance to express themselves through art.
Highland Park High School students joined college student mentors from Metropolitan State University in Denver, in what organizers described as an "odyssey of the mind."
The goal was to help students understand art from both a cultural and critical thinking point of view.
Students helped paint an indoor mural on canvas representing Dia de los Muertos or day of the dead, which was created by a master artist.
Other students braved the cold and rainy weather to collaborate on spray art mural work.
