American Airlines Cancels Flights From Manhattan

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW)-- In response to the threat of severe winter weather, several incoming and outgoing flights have been canceled at the Manhattan Regional Airport.

American Airlines has canceled two incoming flights Wednesday night from Dallas and Chicago.

Several flights have also been canceled for Thursday morning.

"Due to the severe weather that’s coming in to our area, everyone involved, at least the airline has decided to cancel these flights. The airport will remain open and of course, we have snow removal operations that will take place. We're going to do our best at handling the first big snow of the season. We'll take care of the snowfall and make sure our runway operating areas are clear so when the airlines say they’re ready to go, we’ll be ready too," said Peter Van Kuren, airport director.

Normal airport operations will resume Thursday night with a flight that departs from Manhattan at 5 PM.

Van Kuren says the airline is working to re-book passengers on different flights.
