Alleged Triggerman In Botched Holdup Gets Life

TOPEKA, Kan. (WiBW) - The convicted triggerman in a 2011 Topeka murder case will serve life in prison.

Jimmy Netherland was sentenced Friday morning in Shawnee County District Court. He was convicted on seven counts, including first degree murder, for shooting and killing Natalie Gibson in July 2011 in what prosecutors say was a botched holdup as she returned home from celebrating her 40th birthday.

Netherland was sentenced to an additional nine-and-a-half years for wounding Gibson's life partner, Lori Allison.

Netherland was among nine people charged in the case.
