TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - More than 1300 families still need someone to help them in having a happy holiday.
The United Way of Greater Topeka's Christmas Bureau had 2800 eligible families apply for assistance this year. Adopters are asked to provide a family with gifts and a meal for Christmas.
The more than 1300 families awaiting adoption include 100 who were returned to the United Way Wednesday by an agency that concluded it was unable to adopt this year.
