TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- An accident at a busy interchange left one vehicle dangling more than 30 feet above a busy highway Wednesday.
Officers were called at 4 p.m. Wednesday to I-70 and US 75 after reports that multiple cars had fallen from a highway overpass.
Eastbound I-70 was closed at Fairlawn Road as a trailer hauling vehicles tipped over the side rail of the US 75 overpass, where southbound traffic exits toward Gage and EB I-70.
Two vehicles fell more than 30 feet to the ground below. One of the falling vehicles clipped a passing semi's mirror, ripping it from the rig. A truck stayed dangling from the edge of the overpass Wednesday afternoon.
No injuries were reported and the truck teetering from the overpass was pulled back to the roadway without further incident.
An investigation was underway Wednesday as authorities worked to determine what caused the accident. Accoridng to KHP, speed was a contributing factor.
EB I-70 was reopened to traffic by 4:40 p.m. No further information was provided by authorities.
