High School Aged Teens Report Texting Less Than Adults Do While Driving

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- The AAA foundation released new findings Wednesday that reveals who is most likely to text and drive.

13 news spoke with Jim Hanni, the Executive Vice President of Public Affairs for AAA. He said the traffic safety's findings were somewhat surprising.

He says people aged 16-18 are less likely to text than people aged 25-39, according to the survey. And once the age range hits 40-60, the texting drastically drops. He says 9 out of 10 people agree talking or texting on the phone is the leading cause of distracted driving.

He also said voice automated systems in cars which were meant to help people keep their eyes on the road while driving--has actually caused more of a disturbance..according to the survey
