TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- An ultra runner who works for the Eastern Kansas VA Medical Center is covering 62 miles over gravel and dirt to promote philanthropy.

A.J. Mooney is the Coordinator this year for the VA's Combined Federal Campaign.

He laced up his shoes and set off this morning to run from the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka, to the Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Leavenworth.

The campus to campus run promotes giving through a federal employee based campaign to improve the quality of life for all veterans in eastern Kansas.

A number of runners joined Mooney on his adventure, which was set to wrap up at 5 p.m.
