A New Crisis Center Broke Ground In The Capital City

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A new crisis center is coming to Topeka.

Officials of Valeo Behavioral Health Care broke ground on a new $26,000 square foot building located at 300 SW Oakley.

The center will feature 26 crisis beds and will house people suffering with serious mental illnesses. Officials say those in crisis often are on the street and this will help expand the city's jail diversion program, while cutting visits to the emergency room.

Organizers hope to have the building open by September of 2014.
