TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- A former Sedgwick County Sheriff's Deputy sentenced to life for murdering his wife has been moved to a prison outside Kansas.

The Department of Corrections told the Wichita Eagle that Brett Seacat's transfer follows protocol aimed at preventing inmates with law enforcement backgrounds from serving time with inmates they may have had a role in sending to prison.

Seacat was convicted in the 2011 death of his wife and for setting a fire that destroyed their home while their two children were inside.
