(CBS) ASBURY PARK, N.J. Three firefighters and numerous residents of an Asbury Park high-rise were injured after a fire broke out on the 14th floor of the apartment building. There are reports of people trapped and residents could be seen on the roof of the building.
Thick smoke and flames could be seen pouring out of the 14th floor apartment window of the building, the Monroe Towers located on Sewell Avenue, and firefighters could be seen in an adjacent window tending to the blaze.
At least 150 firefighters were on the scene, officials said.
A woman was reportedly found unconscious and had been taken to a local hospital for treatment.
A spokesperson for the city said there are other injuries and more people were taken to the hospital. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Off-duty firefighters were called in to help contain the blaze, which spread to the floor above from where it started.
