Suspect in Coffey County Murder Sought
AG's Office, County Attorney announce murder charges against Russell Allen Dempsay; suspect remains on run

An alert from the Attorney General's Office about a murder suspect on the run from Coffey County.
AG Paul Morrison and Coffey County Attorney Doug Witteman today announced first degree murder and aggravated robbery charges against Russell Allen Dempsay. They say Dempsay killed Richard Duane Freeman II July 7 while committing an aggravated robbery.
"We ask that anyone who sees Russell Allen Dempsay call the police
immediately," Morrison said in a statement. "Kansans should not approach him or attempt to interact with him. They should just call law enforcement right away."
Dempsay is described as 25-year old white male, 6'2", 175 lbs. with blonde hair and blue eyes.
