A town hall meeting regarding diversity in the Topeka Fire Department will be rescheduled due to the death of Topeka Fire Capt. Tony Cox.
The forum with the Human Relations Commission, “Human Relations in Topeka: Diversity and the Topeka Fire Department,” was to be held Thursday. Topeka Fire Chief Howard Giles and Fire Marshall Greg Bailey were to address the city on the department’s efforts at recruiting and maintaining a diverse group of firefighters. They also planned to discuss safety outreach activities.
Giles and Bailey will be rescheduled to appear at a future HRC meeting.
