Tuesday afternoon the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office identified the four men involved in the canoeing accident on the Kansas River.

The Sheriff's office says 27 year-old Brandon Colcher, and 25 year-old Daniel Wiggs of Topeka were rescued from the river Sunday night.

Then on Monday the body of 25 year-old Joshua Bryant was pulled from the river.

Tuesday morning the body of 30 year-old Richard Heyroth was found against a barge under the Topeka Boulevard bridge. The body was positively identified as being Heyroth's Wednesday morning after dental records condfirmed the identity.

Tuesday morning, Fire Marshall Greg Bailey confirmed that recovery teams had discovered the body of the second person lost on the Kansas River when two canoes overturned Sunday night.

Search crews looking for two missing canoeists found Bryant's body Monday afternoon in the Kansas River in Topeka. The discovery was made around 3 pm, on the south side of the river, at the east end of the grain elevators. Officials will determine whether the body is that of one of the missing canoeists.

Their search began late Sunday night, when emergency responders got a call about an overturned canoe and someone screaming for help near N. Hwy. 75 and Lower Silver Lake Rd.

According to police reports, four men were rafting down the Kansas river in two canoes when both overturned. Nearby fisherman were able to rescue two people from the river.

Rescue teams called off their initial search just before four o'clock Monday morning before suspending their efforts until daybreak. The search resumed around 6:30 in the morning.

Around 10 Monday morning search crews found two life jackets.

Respondents from several city and county departments including the Shawnee County Sheriff and Fire, Mission Township Fire, AMR, the City of Topeka Police and helicopter unit and Fire Department as well as the salvation Army.

I am Rich's brother. I wanted to extend a thank you to everyone who has sent their thoughts and prayers. My family is deeply saddened by this tragedy, but we have found a sense of peace because we know that Rich and Josh are in a much better place. They are looking down and smiling about how many, many lives they have touched and improved. If you remind yourself that their spirits live on and are with us all constantly, it brings a very satisfying feeling. I am so very thankful that Brandon and Dan are still with us. So many thanks to the fishermen who offered thoughts and more prayers...I hope to meet you one day. I had the opportunity to meet Josh's family. Though we did not know each other, our family's thoughts and prayers go out to you. Finally, I am thankful for all the lives that have been touched by Rich, Elizabeth, and Ethan. I know a few of you, I know I will meet many more, each with a story of their own. Do be reminded of good times, and know they are smiling down on us.

The family of Josh Bryant also thanks everyone for their support:

On behalf of Josuha's family I would like to thank everyone involved in the recovery efforts.
The Topeka Fire and Police Dept. The entire County Sheriff's Dept. The Water rescue units from Topeka and Mission. As well as the Salvation Army. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Herman Wyatt and the entire staff of the water treatment center for thier kindness during our time of need.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Brandon Colcher and Daniel Wiggs. We are so very thankful you both are safe. We would like to thank the fishermen that saved lives that terrible evening. You are heros to us and so many others.

We would like the Heyroth family to know you are and will be in our prayers. Though we did not get to meet Rich, (each day that passes) we are learning of his positive impact on the uncountable lives he has touched.

Like Rich Josuha made an impact on everyone he met. He always took a moment to talk to everyone, to make sure everyone was included and felt special. Josh never missed a chance to make a new friend. There are few people in this world like Josh and Rich.

We find solic in knowing Josh and Rich are in a better place and will be a part of all of our lives forever. When we are guided from above we can be certain that Josh and Rich are watching.
Thank you,
Jim Bryant and Family

I spent a few years in U.S. with Ed and Connie, and I met their daughter Elizabeth a bit. This is hard the tell why God let us to face suffer. However, I do know that the suffer usually come with the grace of God. May God comfort Elizabeth and her family.

This is Rich's father-in-law. Those 4 fishermen are heroes. They should NEVER feel like they could have done more. God used them to save 2 guys lives--for which we are all very thankful. The rescue teams also worked valiently and deserve highest praise. Thank you Fire Dept, Police, Sheriff, EMT, etc. I believe his name was Corporal Evans--who compassionately kept us informed of the goings on. We thank you all. And Cindy Sleeper, coroner --was a jewel--the best at what she does.

It has been a week since the accident but no one has forgotten!! We remember Josh and Rich and Our hearts hurt!!We think of Daniel and Brandon we rejoice! I know of four fishermen who are having a hard time coping as well. I know for a fact they feel ill, don't sleep, and wear big shoes I don't know that I could fill. God bless you all!!!
