Manhattan, Kan. (WIBW)_ The Manhattan-Ogden School District is dealing with potentially more than one-million dollars in budget cuts is also spending money on construction.
It is happening because voters approved a bond issue. That money can only be spent on construction and can not be used to fill the budget gap.
The construction includes millions of dollars of work at the high school, including 14 new classrooms and a new two story science wing. At Amanda Arnold Elementary School, work includes four new kindergarten classrooms.
The projects will be completed between this summer and 2015.
The cuts include talk of eliminating teacher and administrator positions and cutting elementary band, orchestra, and Spanish.
