Topeka, Kan. (WIBW)_ Topeka City Manager Norton Bonaparte outlined his accomplishments during 2009 and his plans for the city in 2010, during a news conference Friday.
Bonaparte says City Council approved the 2010 budget with a mil decrease and that he has worked on projects with funds from the city's half-cent sales tax.
He says in 2010, he wants to narrow the 2010 budget shortfall and implement half-cent sales tax projects.
Bonaparte says he anticipates the city will have $1.5 million less collected in sales tax revenue for this year and that the city will have to make more difficult cuts.
Following the elimination of six filled city jobs, Bonaparte says a committee of employees is looking at creating efficiencies in the city and that future layoffs are possible.
Bonaparte also says a number of candidates have applied for the Topeka Zoo director position.
