KANSAS CITY, Missouri - Kansas City, Missouri has joined the race to bring Google's new high-speed internet to its city. City leaders publicly announced Wednesday morning their efforts to attract Google.
They are just one of the cities now competing against Topeka to be chosen by Google as a test site for an ultra fast internet connection.
The group Think Big Topeka is spearheading the push in Topeka, with more than 14,000 Facebook fans already behind the effort.
Tuesday night, Topeka city council members formally threw their support behind efforts to bring Google's high-speed fiber experiment to the capital city. They approved a resolution encouraging Google to choose the city.
Mayor Bill Bunten had already issued a proclamation the beginning of March, renaming Topeka "Google" for the month. Help bring Google to Topeka by visiting ThinkBigTopeka.com.
