(WIBW) - Voters in Ogden sent an overwhelming message to Mayor Jimmy Bond Tuesday: They want him out of office.
In a special recall election Tuesday, unofficial results shows 194 people, or 69 percent, voting for Bond's removal, while 86 voted against it.
Voter turnout was 30.63 percent.
The problems for Bond began mounting last summer when he fired two lifeguards at the city swimming pool forcing it to close early.
Later, Bond made revelations about his criminal record, including a manslaughter conviction in the 1970s.
Residents circulated a petition to force the special election, only the second in Riley County's history.

Anonymous, what pool does make money? That pool is there for the children, not to make money. The pool was the last thing the children had to do in that town with the closing of the youth center. There are some wonderful people trying to get a teen group started for 6-12th grade but what about the younger kids? Really people, think about the kids, not the money for a little bit. Bob, everyone knows you are a good person, honest and fair and impartial, and so what if you've been to the adult clubs? Most men do go at some point! At least you can admit your past and not try and hide it! Thank you Bob, for your support in this battle we have won, we know you will do a wonderful job as Mayor!
If it was racial then why was he elected? Did the citizens of Ogden go oops one day and decide they didn't want an African American mayor? Hardly! All of this was based on his actions, nothing more. Since I have been referenced in these comments, I want to set the record straight. The arrest record is funny, because there have been no convictions and everything was dropped without malice. The freguenting the adult clubs in JC I find funny as hell, the last time I freguented those establishments was at a friends pre-wedding bash about 8 years ago. If it really matters I haven't been since. I am just glad my x-wife of 10 years is still worrying about me and not hesitating to let the world know how she feels!!!
OK, he fired two lifeguards from a pool that was LOSING MONEY, I would have shut it down too. The town has no revenue to speak of, other than from the taxes most residents pay, and the water bill. Ogden needs to mend its broken fences with Riley County, annex some land, and generate business interest if it is going to survive. Otherwise, the same people who are destroying the town from the insie are going to continue to have free reign, especially when Henson is voted back in in 2011.
