The Horse Show kicked off the 2007 Shawnee County Fair. The fair runs Thursday through Sunday.
Many competed in the barrel races among other events to win ribbons.
Officials say the 4-H youth participating have the opportunity to develop sportsmanship and leadership skills as well as learning to respect the animals.
But for those competing it's all about the fun!
“I just love mostly the racing part because it's such an adrenaline rush because you're out there on a 1,500 pound horse jut they can do anything. They can buck or do well,” said Megan Koci.
Exhibits for the fair open in the Expocentre on Thursday.
