Riley County officials say more than 80 Ogden residents signed a petition that afforded this recall election. Only the second of its kind in Riley County history.
Why do residents want bond out? They say it's been one thing after another. "He has not admitted publicly that he was wrong in the various circumstances he's been charged with. He's laid blame on everyone but himself and that's my biggest concern," said Ogden resident Tricia Elliott.
Elliott says it all started when Bond fired two lifeguards and their community pool manager, causing the pool to close early last summer.
Residents concerns were amplified after hearing Bond's confessions last month. That's when he came clean, recounting his burglary convictions and even a manslaughter conviction in the 70s. Crimes that earned bond 11 years in prison.
13 news reached out to Bond for comment but he wasn't in his office or his salon today.
Residents say they don't want a fight, just an open and trustworthy Mayor. And they hope this election supports their views.
"Ogden is a small town and we need a Mayor who's going to take care of Ogden and its citizens," Elliott added.
Advanced voting closes March 8th at noon. Then polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the election on the 9th at the Ogden Community Building.
