It's a way city officials are helping promote the capital city against our competitors also vying for Google's attention, including Grand Rapids, Michigan and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Bunten says the proclamation is just for fun. He says he hopes it will encourage Topekans to support continuing efforts in the race.
Meanwhile Shawnee County is conducting an online survey to determine interest in Google's high speed internet service.
The service would bring internet between 100 and 1,000 times faster than speeds currently offered in our area.

I moved to and live in TOPEKA not Google. I am soooo tired of this Google campaign. It needs to STOP!!!
Now Topeka is not only going nowhere, it has become an international joke. I agree with James.
