Kelsey Smith's Alleged Killer in Court Friday Save Email Print

A | A | A

OLATHE, Kan. (AP) _ An evidence hearing is scheduled today for Edwin Hall, the man accused of abducting and killing Overland Park teenager Kelsey Smith.

Johnson County District Judge Peter Ruddick is expected to consider motions filed by Hall's lawyer, Paul Cramm. Cramm wants prosecutors to turn over all reports regarding DNA evidence and to preserve all physical evidence in its original form until the defense can inspect it.

Cramm has also asked that police agencies in the case be ordered to preserve all recorded radio traffic among officers, calls to 911 and to hot lines such as Crime Stoppers.

The 26-year-old Hall is charged with premeditated first-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping in Smith's death. He was charged this week with capital murder, making him eligible for the death penalty.
